802.11a- A supplement to the IEEE 802.11 WLAN specification that describes radio transmissions at a frequency of 5 GHz and data rates of up to 54 Mbps.



802.11b-  The standard on which most WLANs are currently based, allowing data rates up to 11 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz ISM radio frequency band. See also 802.11g.
